o2olap Actions
|
Actions
enable end users to act upon the outcomes of their analyses, thus enabling a more
proactive approach within financial reporting applications. An action is a predefined
operation that an end user can initiate upon a selected cube or portion thereof.
The operation can launch an application with the selected item as a parameter or
retrieve information about the selected item. This includes, querying direct to a
search engine on the internet or possibly launching and interrogating another application.
OLAP actions allow results to drive the next steps in the business process.
A practical example would be when a customer underperforms. With an "Action", the
analyst triggers the generation of a query directly
to source systems or by accessing
the customer's web site.
